Stefano Raffaele Giannubilo, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Polytechnic University of Marche in Ancona, Italy. His clinical and scientific work focuses on maternal-fetal medicine, hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, gestational diabetes, placental pathology, and perinatal outcomes. Biography

Stefano Raffaele Giannubilo, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Polytechnic University of Marche in Ancona, Italy. He graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Polytechnic University of Marche in 1998 with honours, completed his specialization in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2003 with honours, and received his PhD in 2007 in the field of immunometabolic, degenerative, and infectious diseases.

Professor Giannubilo has developed his academic and clinical career within the field of obstetrics and gynecology, with a particular focus on maternal-fetal medicine and high-risk pregnancy. Since 2017, he has served as Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Marche. Prior to this, he worked as Assistant Professor in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Department of Clinical Sciences of the same university and as a structured doctor at the Maternal-Child Salesi Hospital in Ancona.

His scientific work focuses on hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, preeclampsia, fetal growth restriction, preterm birth, gestational diabetes, placental function, fetal monitoring, thrombophilia, HELLP syndrome, uterine fibroids, and perinatal outcomes. His publications include studies on fetal heart rate analysis, fetal acidemia, pregnancy hypertension, fetal growth restriction, gestational diabetes, preterm premature rupture of membranes, and obstetric complications. These areas are highly relevant to the clinical and medico-legal evaluation of adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes.

Professor Giannubilo has participated in several national research grants and has been involved in major research projects on maternal-fetal pathology, thrombotic risk, obstetric complications, fetal neurotrophic proteins, preterm birth, and markers of feto-placental function. His CV lists 244 publications in national and international journals, including 130 PubMed-indexed papers, with a Scopus H-index of 35. He is also co-author of the book Preeclampsia Update and has contributed as an author to national guidelines on hypertension in pregnancy and gestational diabetes.

As a keynote speaker at Malpractice 2026, Professor Giannubilo brings essential expertise from clinical obstetrics and high-risk pregnancy care. His work is particularly relevant to discussions on prevention, early recognition, management of obstetric complications, fetal and maternal monitoring, clinical documentation, guideline-based practice, and the relationship between obstetric decision-making and medico-legal responsibility.
